Well, this is me combineing some of the techniques of the gnomon dvds.

First I do a thumbnail marker sketch. I use digital water color to quickly block an idea out, maybe not even an idea, I did this for a while till I figured out what I wanted then I came to this. Then I use a scratchboard tool to find my character in the blobby mess. This was from JP Targets dvds. They are awesome.

I blow my image up to 3k and “light box” my image and do pencils overtop. I acctually damaged my pencil pass which I’m really pissed about. I unify the design with stronger shapes and add details. Steven Platts comic book penciling dvd. Tottaly awesome.

For the value rendering I combine soft and hard brushes. I got this tip from Sasha. I paint a shape then shade with a soft brush. I also add more details here. I try and focus on the material.

So right now I have a background I’m doing for this to make it finished then I will move on to color.
